Sponsor Trees is a brand of Environmental Partnerships Ltd.

Environmental Partnerships Ltd (EPL) was born in 2005 to help implement environmental policy to business and pushes the philosophy of the 3 R's:

  1. Reduce
  2. Re-use
  3. Recycle

However, EPL also says that "Doing less harm is not enough, we also must do some good".

There is a desperate need for trees around the world, both for the global atmosphere and also local economies.

Trees:

  • Provide food, medicines and shelter
  • Improve living standards
  • Rebuild worn soils
  • Reduce erosion
  • Replenish groundwater aquifers
  • Create microclimate conditions
  • Encourage the return of indigenous species

Acknowledging that trees do far more good in developing countries and that most do not have the time or facility to arrange it themselves, the Sponsor Trees brand was born in 2007. Through relationships with tree planting organisations around the world, Sponsor Trees quickly became leaders in agro-forestry encouragement in the UK.

By thoroughly checking organisations before working with them, it is possible to ensure performance, efficiency and effectiveness on behalf of our customers, so that they get more benefits for their money. We allow more trees to be sponsored for less money, and make it easy to plant trees. Alternately, we allow more trees to be planted for the same money!

Criteria for projects:

  1. Projects are based on the needs of the local communities
  2. Projects must provide benefits that are sustainable and not temporary
  3. The projects must not require the community to spend any of their own money. Instead, they are contributing only a small proportion of their land, if they wish to
  4. The project structure should address the needs of local families as well as bring important benefits to the larger environmental community (e.g. reducing the threat of flooding)
  5. The program does not look upon planting the trees as an end unto itself. Instead it should be considered the beginning of a continuing process of restoring the land and replenishing the natural resources
